Preparing for Arrival
Once you have been admitted to the University of Minnesota and your enrollment has been confirmed, there are steps you need to take in preparation for your arrival on campus.
- Initiate your University of Minnesota Internet account
- Apply for financial aid (March 1st – priority deadline)
- Speak with your sport program about housing for the upcoming year
- Complete new student checklist and select orientation date (opens in April)
- Take placement tests prior to orientation date
- Review your health plan coverage in preparation for orientation
- Complete your immunization form
- Explore parking and transportation options
- NCAA Eligibility Center
- Request final amateurism certification (available April 1st)
- Submit final transcript with proof of graduation
- University of Minnesota Admissions
- Attend orientation and register for classes
- Avoid scheduling during practice times if possible
- Register for OUE 1086 (First-Year Experience)
- Meet with Academic Counselor in the Lindahl Academic Center after registration to review schedule
- Complete required paperwork for Athletic Medicine (August 1st - deadline)
- Complete required U of M compliance forms prior to beginning practice or competition
- Complete Welcome Week Event Selection (available mid-July)
- Fall Sports: Please identify your sport program during the selection process. Your schedule has been determined in advance to fit with your athletic commitments.

- Stay in contact with your coaches regarding team meetings, sizing sessions for equipment/gear, appropriate workouts/training prior to team reporting.
